What are they?

The Newspress Awards 2018 rewards a commitment to solid journalism as well as PR excellence. The Awards will go to automotive journalists and PRs who have demonstrated creativity, innovation, commitment, tenacity and expert knowledge.

Who are the judges?

Trevor Adams

Celebrity photographer extraordinaire, Trevor runs his own photographic agency. Matrix Media Ltd sits proudly at the forefront of the celebrity picture industry with photographers based in London, New York, Sydney, Los Angeles and many other worldwide locations.

Sue Baker
Motoring writer, editor, author and broadcaster, Sue needs little introduction as a journalist, having spent 11 years as presenter on BBC2 TV’s Top Gear, and continually contributing to national and international titles.

Lindsey Collumbell
A respected PR consultant, Lindsey is a CIPR Board & Council Member and Chair of Professional Development & Membership Committee.

Ian Crowder
Ian is the head of Public Relations, Insurance and Financial Services at The AA.

Ken Gibson
Principal consultant at Ken Gibson News @ PR, Ken spent 24 years as motoring editor of The Sun.

Alastair McCapra 
Alastair is Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Conor McNicholas
Formerly the editor of Top Gear magazine, McNicholas is now working as a content and marketing consultant. Conor was the Chairman of the British Society of Magazine Editors 2009 and was Consumer Magazine Editor of the Year at the Periodical Publishers Association Editorial and Publishing Excellence Awards, 2005.

David Motton
Freelance journalist, copywriter, editor and presenter, specialising in motoring and cycling. David is a former editor of What Car? and Practical Caravan and is a UK Car of the Year juror.

John Nolan
John was Executive Producer at North One Television, where he launched the Audi Channel on Sky and Virgin and ran Renault TV on YouTube as well as WRC, Fifth Gear and 4Car.

Rob Skelton
Rob is the director of the Commercial Vehicle Show, managing the event on behalf of the LLP.

Claire Spreadbury

Claire is Head of Features at the Press Association, having worked for the news agency for more than 11 years.

What form will the awards evening take?

Top-notch entertainment will feature in the black-tie event as well as a sit-down meal and the awards themselves. There are 25 categories up for grabs, culminating in the prestigious Newspress Lifetime Achievement Award.

Who will be attending?

Journalists who make the final three in their chosen categories will be invited to attend. Automotive manufacturers and other related organisation who have supported the awards by booking a table are able to invite guests and key members of the automotive media.

Tables will be allocated three of the UK's top media professionals who are shortlisted for a category award.

All tables are for ten people. The booking includes reception drinks, a three-course meal, wine on the table and entertainment. Once you have booked your table, you will receive a confirmation email and quotation.
