All the categories are listed on the right-hand column on the page.

Journalism Awards

Journalists can enter as many categories as they want but must consider the relevance of their entry before making their submission. They can only submit one entry per category. Entries, for the journalism categories can be from a variety of media - print, online or broadcast.

Those wishing to enter must select the chosen category, fill in the required fields with supporting information (a maximum of 950 characters or around 180 words) and submit up to three examples of their work. Once the supporting information is done, you can attach up to three files but with a maximum of 5MB per file. If it's more than that the entry won't go through.

No nominations are needed so in the field marked 'Who is the entrant?' journalists and photographers must write their own name.

PR Awards

The Rising PR Star, Press Office and PR of the Year awards are all on a vote-only basis so no supporting information is required. Only journalists registered with Newspress can vote. Journalists who are not registered can register at

Those wishing to enter for the PR Support Agency Award and PR Campaign/Event awards can enter in the same way as the journalism awards. Candidates can enter themselves by filling in the required fields, giving supporting information and attaching examples. These two awards are not on a vote-only basis, but only one submission can be made per agency.

Special Awards

Journalists can nominate their chosen candidates for the Newspress Lifetime Achievement Award and the Special Newspress Award and can give supporting information and examples if they wish.

The 2018 Awards are based on achievements in 2017 so all supporting information and submissions must have been published between January 1 and December 31, 2017. The start day for entries is January 1, 2018 and the closing date  is March 4, 2018.
