New contract marks Eddie Stobart’s largest manufacturing and industrial contract to date
Eddie Stobart, Warrington, UK 20 June 2016 – Aggregate Industries UK Ltd, a leading building materials supplier to the construction and infrastructure industry, has named Eddie Stobart as its Concrete Products division’s new logistics supply partner.
From October 2016, logistics for Aggregate Industries’ Concrete Products division will transfer to Eddie Stobart’s manufacturing and industrial business unit. The new five-year contract, awarded following an extensive tender, will see the haulier carrying Bradstone, Charcon and Masterblock products from 14 UK sites, using a combination of specialist curtain-siders, flat trailers and mechanical off-load vehicles.
This strategic partnership with Eddie Stobart will enable Aggregate Industries to provide a more personalised and flexible service to meet its customers’ ever-changing needs.
The varied nature of the work requires a very flexible haulage partner with specialist resources and equipment – a key reason why Eddie Stobart was chosen. Eddie Stobart’s intelligent planning strategies and systems, and transparent operation are supported by the very latest in-cab telematics systems, providing industry-leading accuracy and real time load information – essential to the smooth running of construction sites.
The multimodal haulier has become renowned in the UK and internationally, with over five decades operating largely in the retail distribution market, offering exceptional service levels, and exemplary on-time deliveries - all underpinned by its rigorous driver training programme. The two companies share a dedication to providing market leading customer service as well as a commitment to health and safety and quality, making Eddie Stobart the first choice partner for Aggregate Industries.
Simon Marriott, Concrete Products Director at Aggregate Industries explains: “During a competitive tender process it was clear these two companies share a similar ethos, both committed to delivering innovative, tailored solutions and first class service to our customers. We’re delighted to announce Eddie Stobart as the new logistics partner for our Concrete Products division and look forward to working with their dedicated manufacturing and industrial team.”
Alex Laffey, Eddie Stobart CEO, said: “We are delighted to call Aggregate Industries our partner in the infrastructure sector. Our multimodal offering also presents a much broader opportunity for Eddie Stobart to support Aggregate Industries’ efforts in reducing the amount of product moved by road, and helping further our commitment to sector-leading sustainability.”
